UFC Fight Night 118: Darren Till Seeks To Make His Name Off Donald Cerrone

By Adam Martin

Welterweight prospect Darren Till will get the biggest fight of his career to date this weekend when he takes on Donald Cerrone in the main event of UFC Fight Night 118, which takes place Saturday at Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland. It's a huge step up for Dill, as the unranked prospect will take on a consensus top-10 welterweight in Cerrone, who is ranked #6 in the UFC's rankings, not to mention one of the most exciting fighters in the sport.

Darren Till Looks To Use Donald Cerrone To Punch His Ticket To The Next Level

By Raphael Garcia

The underdog is an interesting specimen in mixed martial arts. While all sports offer the compelling story of an expected loser pulling out a way to win under the biggest lights, this is a frequent occurrence in MMA. There’s something special about seeing fighters rise above the odds to get their hands raised. Darren Till is attempting to do that on Saturday, as he’s facing perennial contender Donald Cerrone at UFC Fight Night 118 in Gdansk, Poland.

Mark Hunt, the UFC, and the Cause For Concern With CTE

By Raphael Garcia

Last week the UFC made headlines when Mark Hunt was removed from a bout against Marcin Tybura that was planned for UFC Fight Night 121. This was due to comments that Hunt made in an article published by Players’ Voice, an Australian sports media outlet. Concussions and CTE remain a major topic of discussion in contact sports, so it wasn't surprising that the UFC took such an action regarding the heavyweight competitor. However, the question remains as to whether the promotion will take similar action in the future.

UFC 218 Is Looking Stacked

By Adam Martin

The UFC hasn’t been to the Detroit area since UFC 123 back in 2010, but when the promotion returns to Motown on December 2 at Little Caesar's Arena in downtown Detroit, it will do so on the strength of one of the most stacked pay-per-views of the year. Barring injury -- or USADA sanctions -- this card looks to be one of the most promising UFC events in a long time. 2017 overall has been a down year to the company, but with the big fights coming up at UFC 216 and UFC 217 that I highlighted in a recent article, plus this ridiculous card in Detroit and another card in Vegas to close out December, the UFC looks poised to finish the fourth quarter with a bang.

UFC 216: The Weirdness That Was

By Adam Martin

UFC 216 turned out to be a very strange card. Between a last-second injury reshuffling several fights on the card, two fights being scored draws, and numerous upsets taking place, it was truly one of the oddest cards in quite some time.

UFC 216: Kevin Lee Is Ready For A Breakthrough Moment

By Raphael Garcia

UFC 216 is a card with fights may not draw immediate attention or generate the biggest stories in mixed martial arts, but still present compelling reasons to watch. Kevin Lee is one of those reasons, as he battles Tony Ferguson for the interim lightweight title in the main event. As this fight draws closer, we get closer to seeing whether “The Motown Phenom” has the star power he claims to tout.

Bellator 184: Eduardo Dantas vs. Darrion Caldwell Is A Can't Miss Fight

By Raphael Garcia

Bellator MMA doesn’t boast the super deep roster that the UFC does, but that doesn’t mean it can’t present action-packed and intriguing fights. At Bellator 184, two of the best bantamweights that you may not know will step into the cage. Eduardo Dantas defends his 135-pound title against Darrion Caldwell, and for those who enjoy technical and dynamic mixed martial arts, this is a fight to see.

UFC 216: UFC Made the Right Call In Setting Demetrious Johnson vs. Ray Borg As the Co-Main Event

By Adam Martin

A mini-controversy emerged last week when the UFC announced the bout order for this weekend’s UFC 216 card, which takes place Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Instead of setting a late addition bout featuring Demetrious Johnson vs. Ray Borg for the flyweight title as the main event, the original headliner, a bout between Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee for the interim lightweight title, kept its spot, with Johnson vs. Borg named as the co-main event. There are arguments for and against the UFC’s decision, but ultimately I do believe that the promotion made the right call.

UFC Looking For A Strong Fourth Quarter To End 2017

By Adam Martin

This definitely hasn’t been the best year for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. A year after WME-IMG took over operations, the promotion has had a down year, with sub-standard pay-per-view buys for sub-standard cards such as UFC 208, injuries to big name fighters like Khabib Nurmagomedov, retirement announcements from star athletes like Ronda Rousey, Diaz brothers sitting out, and a pound-for-pound champion getting busted for failed drug tests in Jon Jones. The Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather boxing match helped the company somewhat, but not as much as if the UFC Lightweight Champion was actually fighting in the Octagon. Overall, this has been a down year for the UFC.
